PATRÓN’s Latest Tequila Is Housed in an Agave-Inspired Crystal Decanter

National Tequila Day is not a paid holiday, but it does gift us some fantastic releases by some of the most revered names in the spirits industry. As we stock up on tequila and lime for July 24, distilleries all over Jalisco prepare for the colloquial day of celebration. PATRÓN is not only routinely in the top 3 in the world in sales but is also a favorite of hardcore tequila aficionados because of the brand’s stringent quality standards and small network of agave growers in Mexico.

The Mexico-based distillery has partnered once again with French crystal masters Lalique for a limited-edition expression and bottle. Serie 3 is the third collaboration between the brands, and arguably the most memorable. Marc Larminaux, Lalique’s Artistic and Creative Director, designed the Deco-styled glass decanter to look like an agave flower and the Jalisco Highlands, with a green topper and shingled sides.

Inside the bottle is a new, rare extra añejo blend crafted by PATRÓN’s Master Distiller David Rodriguez, combining 14 different tequilas aged up to 8 years each, in either French or American oak barrels. These casks were then hand-selected and married together to form this unique expression that’s amber in color. The oakiness comes off on the nose, as does the caramelly cooked agave bouquet. The palate is unbelievably smooth with sweet and toasted agave notes, giving way to a woody finish with hints of spice and sherry wine.

299 numbered bottles of the 750mL PATRÓN x Lalique Serie 3 will be released in total for $7,500 through select high-end retailers.
