With Todd Snyder inarguably being one of the most notable designers in New York nowadays, it would be hard to imagine his reputable brand built on subtle East Coast-style could shed proper light on California beach attire. So, looking to disprove this closeminded notion, the designer’s eponymous label is doing exactly that with the release of its west coast-inspired Big Sur collection.
The handsome collection of pieces through this new capsule falls right in line with the rest of Todd Snyder’s sophisticated portfolio, looking to channel the essence of the Northern California coastal region. In a statement from the designer himself, Snyder said, “I kept picturing Big Sur during a time when you might stumble upon the author Jack Kerouac cooling out in a cabin beneath the Bixby Bridge.” After viewing the collection, we think it is safe to say that this mature set of rustic garments draws perfectly from that picturesque hypothetical.
Consisting of a foresty shade of olive green spread throughout some of its most notable pieces, the collection features the French terry-crafted Big Sur Sweatshirt, a spring-appropriate take on Snyder’s iconic Suede Dylan Jacket, and the design-clad Camp Collar shirt, with one option being a limited-edition print coated with old-timey postage stamps. In addition to these, there is an olive-colored Italian Linen Chore Coat, too, among other seasonal items.
It’s hard to argue with any of these new pieces no matter what side of the country you’re on. Todd Snyder’s west coast-approved Big Sur collection can be found in its entirety on the brand’s website, starting from $88.
