The GlenDronach, one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, is releasing the 19th batch of its fan-favorite Cask Bottling collection, where several sherry casks are hand-picked to celebrate the distillery’s 200-year tradition of whiskey-making.

Unlike the previous batch from 2020, which featured Scotch from a wider range of casks, including some as recent as 2009, the 19th batch of the Cask Bottling collection will exclusively feature Scotch from casks that were laid down between 1992 and 1994, with distilling beginning as early as 1990. There were twelve casks chosen in total by Master Blender Rachel Barrie to make up these three distinct bottles. Just as Scotch is often aged or finished in used sherry barrels, The GlenDronach’s selections were held in casks previously used for either Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry wine.

The most premium of the three new bottles—the 1992 Cask 217—was aged 29 years in Oloroso butt barrels and has notes of treacle, nutmeg, and raisin, while the 1992 Cask 6052 was aged 28 years in Pedro Ximénez puncheon barrels and offers fruity notes of mandarin, redcurrant, and apricot jam to complement the chocolate orange cream liqueur. Lastly, the 1994 Cask 5080 was aged 27 years in Oloroso puncheon and exhibits warm notes of chocolate, orange, and cranberry ganache with candied walnut and honey.

The GlenDronach will be producing just over 1,700 bottles in total of its latest Cask Bottling Batch 19, which includes just 383 bottles of the 29-year 1992 cask, 658 of the 28-year 1992 cask, and 667 of the 27-year 1994 cask. Each selection will be distributed to a uniquely different selection of states across America, with 32 states being chosen for distribution in total. The bottles range from $600 to $820 depending on the age.
