Yamaha is one of the world’s most versatile manufacturers, as its wide catalog of instruments has garnered great notability, as well as its Motor Co. branch serving as an esteemed motorcycle brand in its own right. In a neat attempt at acknowledging its heritage, the conglomerate and its automotive subbrand have come together for “Two Yamahas One Passion,” an ongoing partnership that has revealed its latest concept: two new PC-specific mouse designs, one inspired by a motorcycle and the other a wind instrument.
We’ll start with Yamaha Motor Co’s design, boasting a silhouette based around the manufacturer’s aluminum Deltabox frame, which has been used on a variety of its superbikes, including the YZF-R1 and R6. For an added touch of authenticity, the center of the mouse, which Yamaha Design Lab refers to as its image sensor, is highlighted by a design language that resembles the Japanese automakers’ parallel-twin engines. This particular concept is finished off with a stark black and gray color scheme that is equally sleek and unique.
Next in line is the wind instrument mouse, composed of brass and rounded out with piston valves for each respective click-button. Yamaha Design Lab states that this particular concept “has the feel of an analog tool,” which is made evident by how air is pushed out with the press of a button. To no surprise, it was designed by one of Yamaha’s instrument designers, meaning each of its intricacies is accurate.
