The gaming industry is home to many of the technological advancements we’re seeing these days. Between virtual reality, crisp resolutions, and more power, many of these improvements are also benefiting technology on the whole. Curved computer monitors are among these advancements, and began popping up over the last decade giving us larger options without having to double (or triple) up on monitors. Even though the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 only started shipping in February of this year, it’s become one of the best OLED gaming monitors on the market, curved or not. And now Samsung has announced an improvement on the G8 with the Odyssey OLED G9, a bigger and better curved gaming monitor that will also be the first 49” OLED monitor.
Not only is it the first 49” OLED monitor, but it’s also the first to have a Dual Quad High Definition resolution, which is enhanced by AI technology. The G9 has a 32:9 aspect ratio and a curvature of 1800R, along with an impressive pixel density of 110PPI which is achieved by the new improvements. This is complemented by the quick 0.03ms response time on the 240hz screen, which is incredibly helpful for accuracy. Additionally, Samsung’s Neo Quantum Processor Pro provides stunning colors with more depth enhanced by the previously mentioned AI upscaling, making for an immersive visual experience.
On the back of the G9’s slim metal frame, the CoreLighting and CoreSync from the G8 are making a return, producing light that matches the colors on your screen, which the built-in speakers are compatible with as well. Samsung’s Gaming Hub will also come with the G9 allowing you to easily enjoy your favorite streaming and gaming services, along with the Multi View option to split your monitor without needing two of them.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Odyssey Oled G9 monitor are live now from June 12-15 for $2,199, with shipping expected to start towards the end of June. Launch schedules will vary by region but it will be available everywhere starting Q3 of this year.
