Igloo Brings Back 1989’s KoolTunes As a Bluetooth Speaker-Equipped Cooler

In 1989, Playmate introduced the KoolTunes By Igloo, a pink and teal hard cooler equipped with a pair of integrated speakers and an AM/FM radio. And while the KoolTunes hasn’t been in production for over three decades, the company has now opted to revive the product, albeit in a more contemporary form with the new, retro-inspired KoolTunes Bluetooth Stereo Cooler.

Modeled directly after Igloo’s original speaker-equipped cooler, the revived KoolTunes Cooler maintains its predecessor’s distinctive and unapologetically ‘80s/‘90s-era teal and pink color scheme as well as its original yellow branding. Like the first version, the new Bluetooth variant packs a pair of built-in 5-watt circular speakers on one side and a control panel on the other. IP56-rated to resist water and dust, the KoolTunes also boasts an included 3’ USB charging cable, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and 10 hours of music playback on a single charge thanks to a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery.

Capable of housing up to 26 12oz cans, the actual cooler itself features Igloo’s eco-friendly THERMECOOL foam insulation as well as the brand’s trademarked tent-top and side push-button designs. Measuring 14.57″ L x 10.91″ W x 13.9″ H, the cooler also features a secure, swiveling lid and molded-in handles. Despite the cooler’s thin walls — and the fact they house an integrated pair of portable Bluetooth speakers — the use of modern insulation allows the KoolTunes to keep drinks or perishable foods icy cold for hours.

The new Igloo KoolTunes Bluetooth Stereo Cooler is available now, with pricing set at $150.
