Nothing built its name on making ultra stylish tech gear that won’t necessarily break the bank, but CMF, its budget-focused sub-brand, is clearly having even more fun with the formula than the mothership. And for all the earbuds, watches, and phones in its catalog, CMF had never made a speaker. That changes today with the Speaker S and Speaker M.
Fresh From the Dairy Aisle
CMF says the design is inspired by the sharp geometry of a milk carton, and it’s clear as day the moment you see this thing. The smaller Speaker S gets an angled gable top with a built-in carabiner hook, while the larger Speaker M stretches the carton upward and adds a proper carry handle.
Both come in White, Dark Grey, Orange, and Turquoise, and both are run almost entirely from a single chunky tactile knob that handles playback, volume, track skipping, and Ultra Bass.
BYO Knob
The front panels and knobs on both speakers are removable, so you can mix and match colors across the lineup. And if the stock options don’t do it for you, CMF has standardized the component designs for 3D printing, meaning you can print your own panels and knobs at home.
It’s the same community-modding philosophy that gave the CMF Phone 1 its screw-on backplates, but now being applied to a speaker. And we’d love to keep seeing more of this, please.
The Go 4 Just Got Put on Notice
The Speaker S features a 45mm full-range driver paired with dual passive radiators pushing 10W. Meanwhile the Speaker M steps up to a 70mm woofer and 16mm tweeter for a combined 35W. Both speakers claim 18 hours of playback, carry IP68 dust and water protection, and run Bluetooth 6.0 with USB-C lossless audio.
You can also pair two matching units in Stereo Mode, or daisy-chain compatible speakers via Auracast when the backyard needs more coverage.
