To celebrate its 100th anniversary last month, Bang & Olufsen debuted the Atelier Editions of its top-shelf Beolab 90 with the Titan variant, featuring a stripped down version of the $200k speaker. It was unprecedented, unorthodox, and completely outside the box.
We know there will be five total editions for this series, with numbers two and three now getting unveiled from the legendary Danish hi-fi firm, and they’re absolutely not what we expected.

The Power of Contrast
The Phantom and Mirage editions couldn’t be more different if B&O tried. Where the Phantom goes full stealth mode with its black PVD-coated stainless steel mesh covers, the Mirage explodes with iridescent gradients flowing from sapphire blue to magenta across its anodized aluminum framework. Both treatments wrap around the same beast underneath — the Beolab 90 that first dropped in 2015 for the company’s 90th anniversary — but these new finishes come after hundreds of hours of hand-crafted work at Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark.
The Phantom’s semi-transparent mesh creates what B&O calls “holographic visual depth,” giving you a glimpse at the 18 Scan-Speak drivers lurking beneath. Hand-laminated carbon fiber on the face mask, shoulder plates, and base panels adds a motorsport-inspired edge, while pearl-blasted black anthracite aluminum details tie everything together. It’s understated aggression in speaker form.

Meanwhile, the Mirage takes the opposite route with gradient-treated fabric that shifts colors depending on your viewing angle. Five aluminum parts per speaker get the hand-polished anodization treatment, complete with wave-textured surfaces meant to be a visualization of sound itself. The borderline-excessive display is decidedly theatrical, but in the best way possible for a speaker at this price point.

The Beolab 90 Legacy
For those unfamiliar, the Beolab 90 remains one of B&O’s most ambitious projects. Each tower packs 8,200 watts of power split across 18 premium drivers (seven 1-inch tweeters, seven 4.5-inch mid-range units, three 10-inch woofers, and one 13-inch front woofer), all controlled by 14 channels of ICEpower amplifiers and four Heliox Class D amps. At 302lbs per speaker, these aren’t exactly modest.
What separates the Beolab 90 from other flagship speakers is its beam-forming tech. Active Room Compensation analyzes your space and adjusts accordingly, while Beam Width and Direction Control let you tailor sound dispersion across five different acoustic fronts. It’s essentially studio-level adaptability packaged for home use — assuming your home can handle speakers that weigh more than most people.
