With the majority of laptop wielders and tech speculators waiting for the arrival of a full touchscreen MacBook from Apple, trustworthy PC manufacturers like ASUS are looking to set the industry standard prior to it. Roughly four years removed from its dual-screen Project Precog concept, the brand has unveiled an actual iteration of it with the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED.
Boasting a 17.3-inch, PANTONE Validated OLED display with a 4:3 aspect ratio and QHD resolution capabilities, the visual prowess shown off with ASUS’ latest laptop is surely incredible — but the display’s resolution is only half the story. The full-length screen can also be opened into a massive tablet, or used like a laptop with two seamless 12.5-inch displays, giving the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED a form-factor like no other laptop. As far as its internal specs are concerned, the newly-revealed computer is powered by 12th Generation Intel Core U-Series processors, a 75Wh battery, and even features a quad-speaker system courtesy of Harman Kardon, the latter of which is accompanied by Dolby Atmos’ immersive audio tech. When equipped with ASUS’ patented ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad, the Zenbook Fold is seamlessly capable of operating in any way you see fit, as it can easily adhere to a number of operating modes: PC, Laptop, Tablet, On-Screen Keyboard, Book, and Extend. Co-engineered with Intel for the sake of optimum performance and featuring Intel’s new Visual Sensing Controller chip with AI-powered features, this is no run-of-the-mill laptop.
ASUS is no stranger to showing off some pretty eccentric tech offerings, and this falls right in line as one of the brand’s most eye-catching to date. While pricing information is yet to surface from the Chinese techies, we can expect the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED to arrive at some point in Q2 this new year.
