The Cupertino tech giant unveiled its most powerful laptops yet, highlighted by its next-gen chips: the M2 Pro and M2 Max. These advancements also appear on the brand-new Mac Mini.
By adding these advanced elements to its 14″ and 16″ models, Apple has set a new standard for its flagship computer. The new chips support 96 gigs of unified memory and double the unified memory bandwidth, paving the way for speedy access to your productivity apps and rapid-fire downloading speeds no matter how big the files are. The M2 Pro and M2 Max boast Apple’s 16-core Neural Engine and latest image signal processor, resulting in optimized camera image quality for your next Zoom conference. Accounting for all these blazing enhancements, Apple claims that the new laptops are idealized for “demanding pro workflows,” deeming the latest laptops a technological marvel for everyone from tireless creatives to white-collar workers.
Speed-aside, the M2 Max and M2 Pro offer significant upgrades from a visual perspective, including up to 38 cores to promote up to 30% better graphics compared to the already-impressive M1 Max. Additionally, the new Pro model now offers up to 22 hours of battery life, touted as the longest ever found in a MacBook. As per usual, it is equipped with a premium Liquid Retina XDR display, an impressive six-speaker sound system, and built-in studio-grade mics. To close, it is also fitted with a slew of enhanced ports, with advanced, 8K-compatible HDMI connectivity stealing the show. And while these laptops may have stolen the show, Apple’s M2-powered Mac Mini was unveiled today, boasting all the enhanced elements you’d expect to find on a new MacBook Pro into a streamlined desktop computer.
The revamped Mac Mini and MacBook Pro models are up for pre-order on Apple’s webshop, starting from $599 and $1,999, respectively. They will be fully available on January 24.
