First debuting in 1970, the Suzuki Jimny is a pint-sized 4×4 that’s developed a cult following over its more than half century in production, ultimately giving way to an enormous variety of available aftermarket parts and upgrades for the diminutive off-roader. And while the Jimny is undeniably an iconic vehicle in its own right, that hasn’t stopped a recent trend where we’ve seen the model re-skinned as a myriad of other instantly-recognizable 4x4s such as the Mercedes G-Wagen and the Land Rover Defender. And the latest classic 4×4 model to have its body design bestowed upon the Jimny is Jeep’s second-generation Cherokee.
Built by Yonago, Japan-based tuner and parts purveyor Marvelous, this kit transforms the latest Suzuki Jimny into an even boxier machine that takes ample inspiration from the lines seen on the unibody design Cherokee that Jeep produced from ’84 through ’01. Achieved through the addition of a bolt-on kit, this transformation is made up of a new front bumper, a new rear bumper, and a new six-slot grille setup that’s sandwiched between a pair of round-edged square headlights. To make its appearance more in line with the lifted XJ, the Suzuki has also been treated to a 1.5” lift kit and a new set of off-road alloy wheels wrapped Yokohama all-terrain rubber.
Alongside the regular kit, Marvelous is also producing an up-specced version of the parts package that maintains all the elements that comprise the first kit while also gaining a larger 3.0” lift along with flared fenders at all four corners. Available in a variety of different color options, both kits are also being sold preinstalled onto new Jimny donors as complete, ready-to-ride turnkey vehicles. With that said, the elements that comprise the kit are also being sold a la carte.
The Marvelous Jeep Cherokee XJ bodykit for the Suzuki Jimny is available for order now with pricing set at ¥2,330,000 (~ $17,550) for the standard kit and ¥2,690,000 (~ $20,260) for the lifted widebody variant — a premium of only $2,775 and $5,475 respectively over the stock Jimny’s price. The individual parts start at $510 for the front bumper and go up to $1,350 for the grille and headlight combo.
