The North Face has no shortage of iconic pieces, and it’s always a shame when some of them are stuck in the vault. That’s why the label’s RMST series is always so exciting, especially when TNF is looking to one of its first athlete-designed collections, the Steep Tech series, which originally dropped back in 1991 with the help of extreme skier Scot Schmidt. Now, TNF is expanding its Steep Tech RMST series, featuring futuristic takes on classic gear.
Kicking the collection off, the RMST Steep Tech GORE-TEX Work Jacket is made with 100% recycled GORE-TEX 2L material and features a removable hood. It’s also fully seam-sealed and has two exposed, PU, alpine-style zips running down the middle of the chest, giving it a very futuristic look. Next up, the RMST Steep Tech Bomb Shell GORE-TEX Jacket is also made with 100% recycled GORE-TEX 2L and fully seam-sealed, boasting Heatseeker Eco Advanced synthetic insulation for warmth and has a similar retro-futuristic look. The RMST Steep Tech Nuptse Down Jacket also draws heavily from the ‘91 style, equipped with 700-fill recycled down insulation and a reflective grid pattern.
It’s not all jackets, though, as the collection also includes the RMST Steep Tech Smear Pants (named after Scot Schmidt’s landing style), updated with exposed-zip hand pockets and articulated seams. On top of these four main pieces, the collection also includes a Steep Tech logo hoodie and tee.
The latest Steep Tech RMST Series from The North Face is available now on the label’s site and through select retailers, including the RMST Steep Tech GORE-TEX Work Jacket for $550, the RMST Steep Tech Nuptse Down Jacket for $600, the RMST Steep Tech Bomb Shell GORE-TEX Jacket for $500, and the RMST Steep Tech Smear Pants for $250.
