With winter on the horizon, now is the perfect time to grab some rugged shoes built for the cold weather. And if you’ve paid any attention to the fashion scene over the last decade, it’s clear that Salomon’s silhouettes are a popular go-to for both outdoor reliability and modern style. The Xt-6s, in particular, (which celebrated its 10th birthday this year) are one of the label’s most iconic shoes of all time and continue to dominate the outdoor and streetwear scene (especially the aftermarket). Now, Salomon is prepping for cold weather with the Xt-6 Expanse Leather, a winterized suede redesign of the legendary trail runners.

Looks-wise, these stay pretty faithful to the original design, but now feature a winterized construction that provides more comfort in colder climates. This starts with a full-grain leather and suede upper to keep your feet warm, and a soft mesh collar to ensure they’re comfortable, too. Adding to the secure fit, Salomon is using its Sensifit technology (designed for trail running) to keep you steady on any terrain. Salomon’s Agile Chassis System (providing reliable cushioning) and EnergyCell midsole (for shock absorption) are also featured in the shoes, with a lug pattern designed to maximize traction.

The Xt-6 is still one of Salomon’s hottest silhouettes, with everyone from celebrities to gorp-core enthusiasts rocking the style to this day. This popularity has also encouraged Salomon to have some fun with the shoes over the years, dropping a variety of functional redesigns to shake them up a bit (like the GORE-TEX Xt-6s that dropped last month), and now we have a luxurious suede take on these absolute icons.

The Salomon Xt-6 Expanse Leather is available now in the light and clean Vanilla Ice / Almond Milk / Transparent Yellow (featured above) and the earthy Bungee Cord / Wren / Almond Milk colorways for $200.
