Reigning Champ’s history goes back further than you might think, and its new collaboration shines a light on its roots. The athleisure label’s now-defunct sister brand, wings+horns, has been out of the game for a while, but RC is paying homage to the material that made it famous.
wings+horns’ signature 1×1 Slub textile came to shape in the mid-2000s and set a high-quality standard through its tenure. However, the brand was forced to close shop in 2021, leaving fans of the label with nowhere to find any more of its heavyweight tops. Luckily enough, Reigning Champ has revived 1×1 Slub through a trio of pieces: a t-shirt, a long sleeve, and a henley.
These sturdy garments are handcrafted in Canada and designed with semi-raglan sleeves, flatlock seams, and a ribbed collar. They are available in black, navy blue, grey, and white, which shouldn’t be a surprise considering the brand’s oft-monochromatic palette. After all, a trusty white tee will go a long way, and you can never go wrong with one from the Canadian clothier.
In an age where some garments just aren’t built to last, it’s great to see Reigning Champ bring this back to life. The aptly-dubbed Legacy of Slub Collection is available on the brand’s webshop, starting from $85.
