Well, the Zegama is now back with its second iteration.
While not Nike’s first (or even second) trail shoe by far, the Zegama 2 aims to be the company’s top-shelf option for serious trail runners. The star of the show is the lightweight midsole, which utilizes the famed ZoomX foam for an ultra-responsive ride that can help you get the high mileage you want without sacrificing any sturdiness underneath. Whether you’re heading up or down steep ridges, traversing rocky terrain, or scrambling to the trail peak, the balance of cushion and support, as well as increased stack heights, will help you conquer whatever’s in front of you.
Under your foot, you also have a sticky Vibram Megagrip outsole that features a diverse lug pattern with wide spacing for traction on more technical terrains. As for the uppers, they feature engineered mesh material that’s stronger and more flexible than your average mesh uppers, giving you extra stability in the process. This is bolstered by an ankle gaitor to help limit debris on the trail and overlays across the toes for added protection. Weighing just 11.2oz, the Zegama 2 features a 4mm heel-to-toe drop and includes some reflective details to offer extra safety in low-light conditions.
