Ever since it came onto the scene in 1983, the Nike Pegasus has risen to become one of the most iconic running shoes on the planet. At a time when the running boom of the ‘70s yielded more specialized sneakers from brands, the Pegasus was a shoe for every runner. Blending concepts from previous models, such as the Cortez’s cushioning and the namesake soles from the Waffle Trainer, the Pegasus was a versatile running shoe that’s now a legend for a reason. Debuting as the latest iteration this past April, the Pegasus 41 has already had several new variants since, with the latest being the PQ.

Taking a notably different approach from previous Pegasus 41 colorways, the PQ possesses a distinct design that eschews the larger Swoosh on the uppers for a small, understated black logo underpinned by a larger orange stripe. Bringing a sort of vintage charm to the variant, this is just a subtle yet unique visual detail to go along with the white engineered mesh material that makes up the rest of the uppers. Speaking of the uppers, they’ve been improved with the 41 for decreased weight and increased breathability. Accented by ivory underneath and on the soles, the uppers are supplemented with a plush collar and comfy sockliner that help to improve the shoe’s fit.

In terms of performance, these road runners are the finest Nike has made thus far, with the franchise’s introduction of ReactX foam in the midsole, which improves responsiveness by 13% (compared to the regular React foam) and increases energy return, bolstered even more by the dual Air Zoom units that optimize cushioning and weight. The shoe weighs about 10.4oz on average. Underneath you have the waffle-inspired rubber outsole that not only gives you flexibility when you run but also traction.

It’s also important to note that the engineering process of ReactX foam reduces carbon footprint by at least 43% compared to that of standard React foam. Priced at $140, the Pegasus 41 PQ is now available from Nike’s website.
