We didn’t know we had it so good in the early ‘00s. Running sneakers were becoming bolder and embracing futuristic aesthetics. Dad shoes were still dad shoes — not streetwear staples. Fast forward over two decades and we’re constantly wishing we could have some of that Y2K-era aesthetic back. Thanks to Nike, we can. Complementing its slew of forward-thinking shoe releases that combine cutting-edge materials and technology, the Swoosh also knows how to dive into its back catalog better than anyone. For its P-6000, it looks to its past, not to reissue a specific model but to create a mash-up of an era of retro runners, now with some modern updates.

Currently in its 41st generation, the Pegasus has become one of the most iconic running shoes to ever exist. Born in 1983 at a time when the industry needed to move away from specialized sneakers to something for every runner, the shoe continued to evolve. In the early ‘00s, the Pegasus was focusing on fuller Air integration, more overlaid uppers, and decidedly chunkier aesthetics. The P-6000 can be seen as an homage to that era, notably taking on the Pegasus 25 and Pegasus 2006.

Dropping in a streetwear-friendly khaki colorway, the P-6000 has also been given CORDURA up top to pair perfectly with the leather and suede to create a layered look. CORDURA is a highly durable nylon-based fabric known for exceptional resistance to abrasions, tears, and scuffs. This means the new variant is tougher than it’s ever been. While inspired by retro runners, the P-6000 Premium CORDURA might even be more welcomed for urban environments and even light hikes.

For comfort, a cushioned foam insole gives you a track-inspired stance in case you do want to take these for a run. Meanwhile, the rubber outsole offers grippy traction and durability on different surfaces.
Priced at $125, the P-6000 Premium CORDURA in Khaki is currently available from Nike’s website.
