Much like outdoor gear, casual clothing has been getting the streetwear treatment as the city-inspired style continues to dominate the fashion world. Nike has been hip to this growing trend, and has always had its finger on the pulse when it comes to incorporating what’s hot at the moment (Nike ACG is the perfect example), especially when it comes to footwear. Slides and mules have also been increasing in popularity, with many labels putting a unique twist on these relaxed silhouettes, and combining the world of athleisure with city-friendly design. At the beginning of this summer, Nike dropped the Calm Slide, which became a seasonal hit, because it’s the perfect poolside companion and a minimal, casual slide. A shoe dubbed the “Calm Mule” has been making the rounds on the web, and it looks to be yet another addition to the Calm lineup of minimalist comfy kicks, with a design inspired by mules.

From what we can see, the Calm Mule has all the markings of the average mule, with a closed-toe design and a (semi) open heel. The removable ankle strap is very reminiscent of how Crocs are constructed (from a function standpoint), offering more support and the ability to go into “sport mode,” as many like to call it. And it’s finished with the iconic swoosh debossed on the side, with three colorways (black, olive, and grey) to choose from when they drop.

If we take a look at the Calm Slide, we can get a good idea of what to expect from these mules when they eventually drop, like the soft, quick-drying foam used in the construction. The full-length rubber outsole is likely returning as well, along with the textured footbed for added grip support.

There’s no official release date or price for the Calm Mule just yet, so keep your eyes peeled for them on Nike’s website.
