Since Nike debuted its new Dn8 a year ago, we’ve loved watching how it’s been evolving. From sleek and playful colorways to stylish collabs with the likes of Palace and Patta, the brand’s latest lifestyle sneaker has taken many forms already, but now it’s time for a classier, less sporty iteration to match the streetwear implications. This is the Air Max Dn8 Leather.
Eight Is Enough
It’s not often that Nike comes out with something as eccentric as the Dn8. Evolving from the Dn, this new Air Max spin-off is named after the set of eight Dynamic Air pods spanning the full length of the sneaker. The dual-chambered pods are designed with tuned pressure levels so that each tube responds to compression differently to optimize energy return and cushioning with each step. Basically, it’ll feel like you’re walking on air with unmatched responsiveness. Aesthetically, it looks like it’s from both the future and also the Y2K era when aerodynamics and lift were all the rage in footwear.
Better in Leather
Probably our favorite iteration of the sneaker so far, the Dn8 Leather is currently available in Black, Baroque Brown, Platinum Tint (a bright white shade), and the tan Flax you see here. Unlike the mesh upper on the standard version, these shoes get a blend of real and synthetic leather applied to the upper, which also looks more sculpted than normal. Aside from its elevated appearance, the leather brings durability to the silhouette.
Above the Dynamic Air system, a foam midsole gives you direct comfort underfoot. Plus, a grippy rubber outsole at the bottom of the shoe is placed directly below the pods for closer contact with the ground. Like the typical Dn8, these also come with the plastic heel clip for security and an extra layer across the toe box for even more durability and protection.
