Although Nike ACG has technically been around since the late ‘80s (making it an undeniable OG in the outdoor scene), its relaunch in 2014 marked a turning point and transition into the techwear space. Nike’s attention to detail and relentless pursuit of cutting-edge technology make them the perfect label to create sleek, fashionable outdoor gear, and they’ve done it again with the Nike ACG Therma-FIT ADV “Rope de Dope” full-zip jacket, an insulated mid-layer inspired by rock climbing.
For this jacket’s construction, Nike calls upon Therma-FIT ADV tech, designed to regulate temperature and keep you warm, and PrimaLoft insulation with fibers that make pockets of air and retain heat (while allowing moisture to escape). It also features a water-repellent finish and elastic bindings around the cuffs and hood to trap heat. A full-length zipper and close-fitting hood add to the warm design, and a bungee hem with a cord lock provides a custom fit. Storage-wise, you get zippered pockets to keep your gear safe, and it can be stuffed away into its own pocket when it’s time to head out/remove a layer.
The name of this jacket, “Rope de Dope,” is based on a popular bouldering spot in Oregon next to the Crooked River at Smith Rock, nodding to climbing culture and the wild athletes in the sport. The internal carabiner is also a shoutout to the climbing scene, while also being a convenient way to secure gear. For sustainability, this jacket is made with at least 75% recycled fibers, and Nike recommends wearing it as a mid-layer over a base.
The Nike ACG Therma-FIT ADV “Rope de Dope” full-zip jacket is available now for $215 in the bright “Campfire Orange/Night Maroon/Summit White” colorway, the “Khaki/Light Iron Ore/Summit White” colorway shown here, and finally, the sleek “Black/Summit White” colorway.
