Whether climbing, running, or just enjoying the great outdoors, Nike’s ACG sublabel is one of the best bets for protective gear that looks just as good as it performs. More often than not, this gear is also inspired by nature, whether it be climbing spots in Oregon or waterfalls in Iceland. And now they’re back with the Nike ACG Sun Farer jacket, a roomy jacket built for the outdoors.

Designed and tested in Nike’s home state of Oregon, the team over at ACG took a trip to the Skógá River in the south of Iceland to get some inspiration from Skógafoss, one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland. The beautiful hiking trails and breathtaking scenery were a big inspiration for the jacket’s look, but it’s not all about style, as ACG studied hundreds of athletes (using body mapping) to design the jacket’s seams for activity and free movement. Getting into the construction here, the jacket is made with an 88/12 blend of nylon and spandex that boasts 4-way stretch, water resistance, and Cordura elbow patches for extra durability. You’re getting a 3-piece hood with a bungee cord for adjustments, and it can be easily packed away into the stand-up collar. It’s finished with another bungee cord around the waist to lock in heat and an ACG carabiner in the inner pocket.

As for the fit here, Nike recommends using the Sun Farer jacket as a layer over your base, fleece, and mid-layer, as it’s designed to have a roomier fit that lends itself to layering. They also recommend going with your standard size, but you can go for a size down if you want a more true-to-size fit.
