Merrell’s Hydro Moc is one of the best Croc-inspired silhouettes on the market, and even though they’ve only been out for a couple of years, the style has already received some love from the likes of LMC and Reese Cooper through collabs, along with a rugged redesign from Merrell’s outdoor sublabel 1TRL with the Merrell 1TRL Hydro Moc AT. Much like Merrell, Burton Snowboards is another American outdoor gear label that’s entered the world of gorp with its MINE77 collection, which Jake Burton Carpenter himself started in 2018 to focus on creative snowboard gear. Offering their take on the 1TRL Hydro Moc AT silhouette, Burton Snowboards’ MINE77 and Merrell 1TRL have just teamed up on the Hydro Moc AT GORE-TEX 1TRL X MINE77.
Building on the OG Merrell 1TRL Hydro Moc AT design, you get a water-resistant EVA foam cage upper that makes these look more like futuristic boots at a glance. But it’s not all about style; using a GORE-TEX membrane, the waterproof design is complemented by a supportive BLOOM performance midsole made of algae biomass (a process that turns green water into clean water).
On top of the vegan construction, a toggle lace closure weaves around the upper and connects to the adjustable strap on the back of the heel (and the external rear sling). A pair of heel tabs on the EVA foam cage makes for easy wearing and removal, and these mocs are a part of the MINE77 x Merrell 1TRL Winter 23/24 collection, which features a variety of unique, GORE-TEX-clad apparel and winter sports gear.
The Hydro Moc AT GORE-TEX 1TRL X Mine77 is available now for $230 through both Merrell and Burton’s websites and stores, and it comes in the marbled black, white, gray, and blue colorway featured here.
