Kith & Salomon Just Perfected Their XT-Voyager Trail Shoe with a Monochrome Sequel

It’s not often that a brand collaboration results in an all-new model, especially in the sneaker world. We see designers come in and put their own spin on a classic shoe or revive a past catalog silhouette. But in 2024, Kith — after having success with XT-6 GORE-TEX variants for a couple of years — decided to team up with Salomon on the new XT-Voyager (along with a co-branded XT-4). Explicitly inspired by Salomon’s Adventure 7 Hi-Top Boot from 1994, the retro-style hiker featured a zipped-up external membrane, came in a decidedly-safe navy blue-and-gray colorway, and sold out very quickly.

Two years have passed, and Kith and Salomon have joined forces once again, bringing a sequel to the XT-Voyager in more aggressive monochromatic tones and a few welcomed updates.

Ripstop Evolution

Where the original XT-Voyager leaned heavily into its old-school hiking roots with mixed materials and visible construction, the XT-Voyager 2 takes a cleaner approach. The ripstop upper now dominates the silhouette, creating a more straightforward, almost minimalist, profile that still feels technical. TPU overlays reinforce high-wear zones while breathable mesh underlays help with airflow, which is something Salomon does so well with its sneakers.

The signature zipper shroud returns but now conceals Salomon’s best-in-class Quicklace system underneath, doubling as a pocket for the cord. The hex camo print at the toe gives you a touch of flare without undermining the monochromatic colorways, available in Triple Black and Vanilla Ice/Rainy Day/Falcon.

Trail-Ready Foundation

Salomon isn’t messing around with the performance side either. The full-length Agile Chassis Skeleton gives you stability on the trail, while the dual-density midsole balances cushioning with responsiveness. Contagrip rubber outsole has been a staple in Salomon’s trail lineup for years for good reason, and it returns here as well. The padded collar and rubberized toe cap round out the protective elements. Most of these functional elements were on the original XT-Voyager but, as we said, the visual design has been cleaned up significantly.

Recap

Kith for Salomon XT-Voyager 2

Kith and Salomon just dropped the XT-Voyager 2, a sleeker follow-up to their 2024 collab that swaps the original’s colorful retro vibes for monochrome colorways and a more streamlined ripstop design. It’s got all the same trail-ready tech underneath — Agile Chassis, Contagrip outsole, concealed Quicklace system — but now it looks way cleaner for $200.
