Iron & Resin has only been around for about a decade and a half, but looking at their impressive array of silhouettes, you’d assume they had a century of heritage under their belts. In 2011, Thom Hill set up shop in Southern California with the intention of bringing a personal touch to traditional styles. They’ve since made a name for themselves for their Rambler Jacket and the Klamath Flannel. One of our favorite pieces is the Wincha Shawl Collar Sweater, with plenty of style and comfort for the coming months.

Certain styles come and go, while others oscillate through eras between trendy and nostalgic. Putting a fresh spin on a classic sweater, the Wincha Shawl evokes, in Iron & Resin’s words, “memories of cabin retreats and cinematic classics.” The custom pattern down the front blends different brown shades over the beige base. It’s not too specific nor too bland, reminding us of something Steve McQueen would’ve worn while steering his boat, but with a seasonal twist. Meanwhile, the oversized front buttons add a vintage touch. You can easily wear this open or buttoned up.

Construction-wise, you’re getting a heavyweight blend of wool (80%) and polyamide (20%), which is warm enough to last you through a long autumn hike and soft enough to keep it on throughout your evening activities. The relaxed fit is perfect for layering, if you want to put on a long-sleeve button-up or t-shirt underneath. We recommend something like the brand’s Topock Henley shirt or one of their many graphic tees. Lastly, a pair of front pockets are large enough to keep some of your essentials, like your keys, phone, or hand-warmers.

Priced at $295, the Wincha Shawl Collar Sweater is now available from Iron & Resin’s website. You can grab one for yourself, but it also makes for a fantastic gift for the upcoming holidays.
