Back in 2011, after realizing there was a lack of a personal touch in the modern clothing market, Thom Hill and a few of his friends decided to launch Iron & Resin from Ventura, CA. They were hoping to imbue a bit of the spirit of their local blue-collar beach town into their pieces, while also putting a modern spin on heritage staples. The brand popped up on our own radar a couple of years later with the release and quick popularity of the Rambler, their inaugural jacket and first cut-and-sew piece. Since then, Iron & Resin has become one of our favorite jacket makers around. And with their latest field coat, the Remington, the clothier has made one of their best cold-weather options yet.
Combining the comfort and build of a hardworking field coat with the utility of a chore coat, the Remington Jacket should get a lot of play during the fall and winter months. Not only is it stylish but it’s constructed with a 12oz cotton duck canvas shell designed to soften over time but without losing its rugged structure.
Iron & Resin also leverages its ever-popular Klamath Flannel as the liner here, giving you solid, low-profile insulation and a touch of style with the pattern that peeks out from the inside. Down the front, you’ll notice a series of five shank buttons with vintage styling.
Paying tribute to vintage hunting jackets, the Remington also features a corduroy collar in black that pairs perfectly with any of the four exterior colors — Beige, Cognac, Black, and Olive. For storing your EDC gear and the like, a set of four patch pockets in front give you plenty of options. The two at the bottom are larger for items like your phone and wallet, while the upper compartments, including one with a button flap, can be easily used for AirPods, pens, or notepads.
