As a way to combat the longer work days of the Great Depression, Charles Danner aimed to create the perfect workboot, with Pacific Northwest ranchers and lumberjacks as his primary customers. And while every pair of Danners to this day is made with the rugged, heritage-inspired ethos of those first boots, the recent debut of the N45 Low Hiking Sneaker eschews this for a decidedly modern aesthetic. Now, the footwear brand has teamed up with online retailer Huckberry on an exclusive colorway.

Dressed in Coyote, the new take on the shoes features a brown take on the Perspair, a branded material that gets its abrasion-resistance and durability from its Kevlar-based DNA but is also breathable, lightweight, and quick-drying as well. Underneath is a speckled black sole that gives these shoes some serious character, especially considering the aforementioned contemporary edge. Inside, Danner uses a nitrogen-infused EnduroFoam midsole that improves energy return to increase the amount of time you can stay on your feet out on the trail. For underfoot protection, a TPU rock plate helps you with stability while traversing uneven terrain.

Despite being unbelievably tough, the hiking shoes are also built for comfort. A flexible Ariaprene gusset gives you a snug fit on your foot, while the always-popular OrthoLite open-cell foam footbed cushioning is incredibly comfortable and helps control moisture when your trek heats up. Lastly, a custom Vibram N45 rubber outsole with MegaGrip and Traction Lug technology ensures support over any terrain so you can head outside without needing to plan too far in advance. Best of all, the outsoles were made by Danner to be recraftable, meaning they can be repaired and replaced over time, removing the need to replace the whole shoe due to wear and tear.

The exclusive limited edition Huckberry x Danner N45 Low Hiking Sneaker in Coyote is available now for $200, only from Huckberry’s web store while supplies last.
