Hoka originally introduced the Mafate Speed 4 Lite as a colalboration with French running brand Satisfy in late 2024. From there, the translucent, tech-forward silhouette quickly became one of the most coveted sneakers in the crossover trail-to-street space. Now, after a brief stint in Hoka’s mainline catalog earlier this year (albeit stripped of its signature speed laces), the brand is bringing the model back (without Satisfy) with all its original features intact as part of the expanded Stealth/Tech collection.

Built Different
The Stealth/Tech iteration is Hoka’s most direct challenge to the Salomon XT-6’s dominance in the gorpcore sneaker market, packaging legitimate trail performance into a silhouette that works just as well in the urban jungle as the natural wilderness.
Still built on the proven Mafate Speed 4 platform from 2022, the Stealth/Tech version keeps Hoka’s ProFly+ EVA midsole technology and a Vibram Megagrip outsole with Litebase construction — elements crucial to the performance of the original.
But the biggest difference here is in the upper, where Hoka swaps the traditional jacquard mesh for a translucent ripstop material that’s still just as breathable but visually stunning when outdoors. The haptic dot-matrix print adds subtle texture while the iridescent heel and tongue logos find subtle ways to catch the eye.

Long Live Speed Laces
Available in white over black or black over white, the Stealth/Tech Mafate Speed 4 Lite wisely brings back the speed laces that we missed with the catalog issue earlier this year. If you’ve ever used speed laces, you’ll know how difficult it is to go back to standard lacing. And reiterating the previous point about Salomon, the Mafate’s speed laces are oddly reminiscent of the ones used by the French brand as well. However, the ones on the Hokas are complete with reflective detailing for safer outings in low-light conditions.
