While the Suns’ All-Star is already rumored to receive a signature set of Nikes next season, Book is getting a headstart by working with Converse on an extremely streamlined pair of Chuck 70s.
Dubbed ‘THE NEXT ICON,’ this collaborative pair puts an even more minimalist take on an already-timeless silhouette virtually made for any occasion, as the joint effort sees the high-tops garner a whole new construction — well, sort of. By using a specified form of undyed canvas and clean tape throughout, the two-guard took inspiration from what Nike dubs ‘vintage Americana,’ managing to conjure up a pair of neutrally-colored shoes that are somehow as wearable as ever.
In addition to the unique materials, other materials used throughout the forthcoming kicks include a sturdy canvas toe and an archive-inspired egret outsole, fusing old-and-new-age elements seamlessly. They are even finished with an Arizona-inspired license plate logo on the heel. From scoring 71 points as a sophomore to his eclectic collection of classic cars, Booker has become one of the league’s more popular personalities (let alone players), and this latest off-the-court project is another example he’s capable of more than shot-creating and having precise footwork; after all, his fundamental style of play was practically pulled straight out of the ’90s, so it’s no surprise to see him work on something as timeless as a pair of Chucks.
