These Normal-Looking Carhartt Jackets Are Actually Bulletproof

Constructed with a major focus on long-term durability, Carhartt’s jackets have long been some of the most popular workwear items on the market. And while they’re highly resistant to tears, abrasions, and the elements, one thing Carhartt’s jackets can’t withstand is a bullet. This is now changing, however, as Washington-based outfit, Bulletproof Everyone has taken two of the workwear brand’s most popular layers and bestowed them with Level IIIA ballistic protection.

The first of the two items is the Armored Carhartt Hoodie. Cut from a soft yet durable 10.5oz cotton-poly blend, this loose-fit hoodie features triple-stitched main seams, an attached three-piece hood with a drawcord closure, a Carhartt label adorning the sweatshirt’s hand warmer pocket, and a stretchable, spandex-reinforced heavy rib knit waistband and cuffs. Starting with this already rugged hoodie, the crew at Bulletproof Everyone has bestowed the garment with 12” x 16” ballistic panels front and back that cover all of the wearer’s vital organs. The ballistic plates are carried in the jacket by a polyester poplin outer layer mated to a 600-denier coated nylon inner cover that affords ample UV and water resistance. Despite offering Level IIIA protection against .22LR, .380, 9MM, .40, .45 ACP, .357, and .44 Magnum rounds, the hoodie is also highly resistant to slashes and stabs.

Bulletproof Everyone has given the same treatment to a more technical Carhartt zip-up jacket. Benefitting from Carhartt’s Rain Defender DWR coating and proprietary Rugged Flex and Wind Fighter tech, the jacket is crafted around a 13.9oz nylon-spandex shell that’s bonded to a water-resistant film insert and an all-polyester fleece backing before being outfitted with the same Polyester poplin and 600D coated nylon chassis and full-coverage Level IIIA ballistic panels as the hoodie. Best of all, despite toting ballistic panels, both garments look like your average hoodie or jacket and don’t announce themselves as being bulletproof items.

Offered in black, navy blue, gray, or OD green color options and in sizes small through XXXL, the Bulletproof Everyone Armored Carhartt Hoodie and Armored Carhartt Jacket are available now, with pricing set at $469 and $499, respectively. All ballistic panels on both jackets are also protected by a five-year warranty.
