Although it was founded in 1959, Alpha Industries really made a name for itself once it secured its first contract with the Department of Defense and produced its M-65 Field Jacket in 1965. Bringing upgrades to the M-51 and M-43 coats that were worn by U.S. Army personnel during World War II and the Korean War, the M-65 (MIL-C-43455) was crucial for soldiers during the Vietnam War for how it was able to adapt from warm to cold weather conditions — even leading to various components that included trousers and hoods. The military jacket eventually made its way to civilians and helped popularize combat-inspired styling we still see today. Now, Alpha Industries is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the same iconic M-65, as part of its Heritage collection, showing just how timeless it’s always been.
Available in Olive, Black, and Woodland Camo, the M-65 Field Jacket is manufactured to military specifications, giving you loads of function while also being a paragon of military fashion. The oversized, thigh-length fit was originally intended to help soldiers carry ammunition and essential gear on the battlefield. The nylon-cotton shell (50% of each) is both water- and wind-resistant as well, while the lining is constructed of cotton (65%) and polyester (35%) for increased durability, softness, and warmth.
Four sizable exterior pockets help you store all your gear, while two interior pockets can keep more important valuables like your phone or wallet. Drawstrings at the hood and waist help protect you against high winds. Likewise, the full-coverage hood can be concealed inside the collar so it’s not in the way when you don’t need it.
