nanamica Teams Up with MONOCLE for an Army-Inspired GORE-TEX Jacket

It seems as though tactical apparel has taken on a life of its own in recent years, seeing as how many brands out there garner inspiration from it. nanamica is a chic Japanese brand looking to do the same, partnering with London-based media company MONOCLE to design a cruiser jacket with a GORE-TEX membrane that emulates the ECWCS Jacket, a weatherized garment developed for the U.S. Army in the 1980s.

The sleek new piece’s outer consists of a 3-layer cotton-twill GORE-TEX fabric, which is composed of a GORE-TEX membrane bordered by cotton and nylon. As a result, it boasts immaculate waterproof capabilities and wind protection. Seeing as there is still a solid month of winter remaining, it’s sure to come in handy over the next several weeks, as well as being well-equipped to handle any sporadic spring showers that may occur thereafter.

The raglan sleeved jacket also features a convenient quartet of pockets, a pair of which appear on the inside and provide top-notch, fastened storage space to protect your valuables. Additionally, one of the two that remain is a hand-warming waist pocket, with the final one placed on the chest.

Although it may seem like a pretty random collaboration, MONOCLE has always had a keen eye for design, with this jacket merely being the latest showcase. The nanamica × MONOCLE GORE-TEX Cruiser Jacket will be available on each of the brand’s websites starting February 27th for £600 (~$817).
