Prior to the 2022 Formula One season, the last year Mercedes didn’t win either the Drivers’ Championship or the Constructors’ Championship was 2013. That same year, Lewis Hamilton joined the Silver Arrows. Subsequently, he earned the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team a record number of victories, including the longest consecutive streaks for both titles (seven and eight years, respectively).

Despite coming in third overall in the 2022 Formula One season, Mercedes-AMG has decided to celebrate its year with a new super-limited edition of the SL 63 roadster featuring nods to its Petronas F1 car. Going from silver in the front to black in the rear, the livery of the Motorsport Collectors Edition is directly inspired by that of the W12 E Performance Formula 1 vehicle, equipped with a star pattern over the black coat on the flanks in the back.

Likewise, the 21-inch AMG wheels come in matte black with Petronas blue rim flanges to match the color of the rear diffusor, side sill panels, and apron up front. This is all partnered with the AMG Aerodynamics package, which dramatizes certain aspects to improve aerodynamic performance, and the AMG Night package, which helps drive home the striking exterior aesthetic. Powering the car is the same 4.0L V8 bi-turbo engine that comes standard on the seventh-generation SL 63, with 577hp and 590lb.ft of torque.

No pricing or release date has been given yet for the Motorsport Collectors Edition, but the new SL 63 will be limited to just 100 examples.
