In the decade leading up to COVID, LOKI exclusively worked on transforming shipping containers into bespoke mobile marketing booths. At one point, the team toyed around with the idea of creating an off-grid mobile research center for maritime scientists, though the project was eventually scrapped. Fast forward to today — several years into LOKI’s now-booming and constantly expanding adventure vehicles division — and the company is now returning to its roots with the debut of its largest off-road mobile habitat to date, the LOKI Discovery Series.
Based on one of several available donor platform options — seemingly including Peterbilt’s Model 220 medium-duty model — the Discovery Series sports dimensions similar to a shipping container and is available in habitats spanning anywhere from 16’ to 20’. Outside, the go-anywhere mobile home has been outfitted with a 360° camera system, utility LED lights on all sides, a retractable canopy, side supports, a full-sized spare tire, a screen door, double glass windows with roller blackout blinds and bug screens, gear cargo boxes, a full cargo bay, an outdoor kitchen, an onboard air compressor, a full recovery kit, aluminum brush guards, and a stair and ladder combo. The mobile travel rig also boasts up to 1,520 watts of solar power, an up to 2,000 amp-hour Lithium power bank, and a 1,000-watt inverter and charger.
Offering space to comfortably sleep half-a-dozen adults, the interior of the Discovery Series comes loaded with an equally generous number of features and amenities including a wet bath with a cassette toilet, an on-demand water pump, a UV water purifier, a 140-gallon fresh water tank, a 60-gallon gray water tank, a U-shaped leather banquette, quartz counters, wood furnishings, a myriad of USB and AC / DC socket, an induction cooktop and microwave, a 160-liter fridge, a 35-liter freezer, a hybrid diesel-electric heater, heated floors, a multimedia monitor on a pivoting arm, an onboard Wi-Fi router, a smart power management system, a roof hatch, an onboard first aid kit, a pass-through, a mudroom, a multi-purpose rail system, a trio of MaxxAir Deluxe roof fans, a dimmable LED lighting system, and reading lamps.
LOKI Expedition is currently accepting build reservations for its new Discovery Series lineup. More information on pricing and build times is available via LOKI’s website.
