Though it’s been held since 1967, it wasn’t until more recent years that the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show — or SEMA as it’s much better known by — has become the premier event for automakers and aftermarket companies to debut elaborate custom vehicle projects. Among them is the wider Mopar brand, which has just debuted a handful of one-off builds slated to make their public debut at the forthcoming Las Vegas-based auto show.
Comprised of seven unique customs, the lineup of factory-backed builds includes a Wrangler 4xe concept, a one-off Dodge Challenger, Ram 1500 TRX prerunner and “outdoorsman” builds, a Kaiser Jeep M725 project, and a luxurious custom Grand Cherokee, though the most noteworthy of the lot is undoubtedly the Jeep Wrangler Overlook Concept. Starting out as a 2022 four-door Wrangler Sahara, the Overlook project has been heavily modified inside and out, seeing its body stretched by a foot and its roofline raised by 5″, allowing for a more spacious interior that now accommodates a third row of seats, as well as custom black sill guards, flip-up glass sunroof panels, and black Katzkin upholstery with Sahara Bronze accent stitching and hexagonal Raven Black suede inserts. Utilizing a myriad of aftermarket items and pieces from the Jeep Performance Parts catalog, the concept has received a 2″ JPP lift-kit with FOX shocks, 20″ Black Rhino York wheels shod in 37″ BFG all-terrain tires, flared fenders, LED foglight-equipped custom stamped steel bumpers, A-pillar-mounted 5″ 4,800-lumen JPP off-road LED lights, a full-size spare tire on a custom swing-out rear rack, a black satin grille, black JPP tubular side steps, a custom hood, and a bespoke bronze paint job.
Mopar is scheduled to pull the cover off all seven projects — including the Wrangler Overlook concept — come the 2021 SEMA Show, which begins November 2nd and runs through the 5th. As of the time of writing, the company has no plans on putting any of these modified models into production, though it should be interesting to see how the designs of these custom vehicles possibly influence future production offerings from Jeep, Dodge, and/or Ram.
