As a company that’s firmly rooted in tradition, switching to an all-electric vehicle lineup presents a unique challenge for the team at Jeep. And after several years of development, the Stellantis-owned outfit has now revealed its future strategy for electrification by embracing cutting-edge EV tech while still leaning into the rugged and dependable nature and go-anywhere capabilities that the brand is known for. Though the marque is aiming to debut four all-new all-electric SUVs in North America and in Europe by 2025, it’s nonetheless opted to give the motoring public an early glimpse at several of these forthcoming models.
Jeep Recon
Offered exclusively as a BEV, the first of these new offerings is the Jeep Recon – a rugged, trail-rated SUV with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system, e-locker axle technology, ample under-body protection, tow hooks, off-road wheels and tires, a one-touch powertop, removable doors and windows, and Jeep’s latest generation of the Uconnect system — all as standard.
Jeep Avenger
The second model in this trio is the all-new Jeep Avenger. Slated to be the first-ever fully-electric Jeep SUV
sold in Europe, the Avenger is a compact crossover that will be positioned just below the existing $25,000 Jeep Renegade. The Avenger is said to boast impressive ground clearance, surprisingly capable break over, approach, and departure angles, a high-tech interior, and a state-of-the-art powertrain with a targeted range of roughly 250 miles per charge.
Jeep Wagoneer S
Code-named the “Wagoneer S,” the last of these three forthcoming models is an all-new fully-electric take on the mighty Wagoneer. Putting an ultra-sleek spin on the existing model’s design language, this full-sized battery-powered sport utility vehicle aims to maintain the luxury SUV’s existing levels of comfort and class while bestowing it with genuine 4×4 capabilities — as well as Jeeps’ all-terrain management system. At the heart of this BEV SUV is a cutting-edge 447.4-kW (600-hp) EV powertrain that enables the Wagoneer S to clock 0-60mph runs in 3.5 seconds — all while still offering a range of 400 miles on a single charge.
In addition to releasing the five aforementioned electric SUVs by 2025, Jeep is also aiming to have 50% of its overall U.S. sales be comprised of battery-electric vehicles and 100% of its Euro market sales by no later than 2030. What’s more, Jeep will also be officially debuting these new models over the coming months, starting with the Avenger at the Paris Motor Show on October 17.
