Jaguar’s Electric Type 00 Concept Is Bright, Bold, and a Symbol of Where the Brand Is Headed

While the jury’s still out on whether or not Jaguar’s recent rebranding will turn more profits than heads, one thing’s for sure: People are definitely talking about the first car of this new era for the British luxury marque.

It took a few days of head-scratching following a lot of nebulous (and car-less) ad campaigns but now Jaguar has finally unveiled an actual vehicle… sort of. In time for Miami Art Week, the company has unveiled a visual concept vehicle dubbed Type 00 “with bold forms and exuberant proportions to inspire future Jaguars.” Let’s take a look.

Prescient of What’s to Come

The first thing you’ll notice is the color choices of the Type 00 (one 0 for zero-emissions and another 0 for the brand’s refresh). Shown in Art Deco-inspired Miami Pink and heritage-inspired London Blue, the two-door coupe will not be for sale but instead seeks to embody what’s to come from Jaguar.

That is to say, from now on, all Jaguars will be EVs but won’t look like EVs. This is obvious by the long front end of the Type 00, a fastback profile, a thick nose, and its two-door configuration. Sitting atop 23-inch alloy wheels, the Type 00 also features a glassless rear tailgate and panoramic roof for good measure.

Once you open up the butterfly doors and step inside the Type 00, you’ll see an oval steering wheel, a windshield display, and heavy use of brass rods and stone — all via a digital rendering of course. Brass is also put on the sides of the exterior for the branding plate.

But What About Something I Can Drive?

While the Type 00 is very much just a concept, if not a mere emblem, it does come with the announcement of the first production car of this new era for Jaguar. Expected to land by summer 2026, it’s a four-door GT (for some reason) with an electric motor under the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA).

There’s not much known about this vehicle as of right now, except that it will have a target range of 478mi with 430mi EPA and 200mi after a 15-minute charge. You can expect the grand tourer to have a similar design ethos as the Type 00. After the four-door GT will come a pair of SUVs, but there’s no info on those yet.
