For the last nine years, Triumph Motorcycles has been one of the main sponsors of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, helping the global men’s health charity raise more than $31,000,000 since its inception in 2012. And in addition to remaining on board as a sponsor for 2022, the Hinckley moto firm has also announced that for this year’s event, it has joined forces with guitar-maker Gibson to produce a one-off Bonneville motorcycle and Les Paul guitar that will be offered as prizes at this year’s DGR.
Based on a new Bonneville T120, this one-of-one custom motorcycle boasts a host of visual cues and modifications inspired by Gibson’s iconic Les Paul. This includes bespoke “Triumph x Gibson 1959 Legends” badging, a custom distressed leather saddle with a trio of stitched-in guitar pick holders, and special metallic gold accents. Known as the 1959 Legends Custom Edition Triumph Bonneville T120, the bespoke Bonnie also sports a one-off paint job with a sunburst finish that’s modeled after the guitar and includes hand-painted coach lining and a jet black guitar headstock design adorning the top of the tank.
The partnership between Triumph and Gibson has also given way to a custom one-of-one version of the guitar that inspired the custom Bonneville. Dubbed the 1959 Legends Custom Edition Gibson Les Paul Standard Reissue, this electric guitar features a cast, painted, and hand-finished reissue switch backplate that’s inspired by the Bonneville’s alternator cover and decorated in “Triumph Gibson 1959 Legends” branding, along with a low-profile electroformed metallic gold Triumph headstock badge, a Triumph logo laser-etched into the lower pickup cover, and a unique jet black scratchplate with hand-painted coach lining — the latter of which is a nod to the cooling fins found on the T120.
“The DGR is extremely proud to be able to reward its highest fundraisers with such an incredible prize, we are extremely thankful to the teams at Triumph Motorcycles and Gibson Guitars for supporting the event and helping us raise more funds for our men’s health initiatives,” DGR founder Mark Hawwa tells HICONSUMPTION. The 1959 Legends Custom Edition Triumph Bonneville T120 and Gibson Les Paul Standard Reissue will be offered as a reward to the individual who donates or raises the most money for the charity, though there is also a slew of additional prizes such as custom DGR Hedon helmets. Interested parties can register for the 2022 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride — which is scheduled for Sunday, May 22nd — on Triumph’s website.
