Evotrex’s Hybrid Camper Trailer Uses Both Battery and Gas to Power Itself For A Week Off-Grid

Even with the best setups, there still might be some trepidation about losing power when adventuring off-grid. Solar panels are an excellent option but efficiency might decrease during extended cloud coverage.

Providing us with a solution, former executives of Anker and Geely have created Evotrex, a new RV company whose debut camper trailer leverages a hybrid system to extend your trips even longer by actually generating power itself.

Power Players Building Power Players

The pedigree here is hard to ignore. CEO Alex Xiao spent over a decade transforming Anker into the world’s top mobile charging brand — we’ve got several of their power banks in our drawer right now. CTO Bruce Yang brings decades of EV R&D experience from Geely’s Technology Center.

Evotrex (a portmanteau blending EV for electric vehicle tech, EVO for evolution, and Trex for endurance) emerged this month after securing $16 million in Pre-A funding. The backing includes Anker’s founders themselves — telling you everything about the confidence in this team’s vision. With that money, the company is readying a debut at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where they’ll unveil what they’re calling “the world’s first power-generating RV trailer.”

The Hybrid Advantage

While all-electric trailers like the Lightship AE.1 and Pebble Flow rely exclusively on batteries and solar panels, Evotrex integrates a gas engine into the mix. Not as a primary power source, but as an intelligent range extender that charges the battery when solar isn’t cutting it. The battery itself powers house functions, onboard appliances, and an electric motor, while solar panels work in tandem with the engine to keep everything topped off.

The approach sidesteps the infrastructure anxiety that comes with pure EV towing so you’re not hunting for charging stations in remote wilderness. Better yet, Evotrex claims the engine is quieter and more efficient than standard generators, and they’ve engineered it to repurpose waste heat for cabin warmth. It’s a hybrid system designed specifically for adventurers who want to push deeper into the backcountry for a week or more without any sort of worry at all.

Adventure Meets Luxury

From the renderings, the trailer presents a sleek, automotive-inspired aesthetic. Twin axles support an aerodynamic silhouette topped with solar panels, while the front features LED lighting design and a large windshield that looks almost futuristic. The tailgate swings upward, revealing a platform that doubles as a covered patio for basecamp living.

Inside, there’s a booth dinette and what appears to be a thoughtfully designed interior balancing comfort with functionality. We should also note that the final production model will likely evolve from the concept version.
