Whether for regular commuting or just last-mile use, lightweight electric motorcycles and e-bikes represent something of the ideal option. Recognizing this, North Carolina-based startup EROYbikes set out to engineer the ultimate solution to urban mobility with an all-new pair of Class 2 e-bikes.
Dubbed the Arc Hero and the Arc Nemesis, both models are built around a monocoque chassis that’s been CNC-machined from aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum before being paired with a KKE BF-34 double air crown fork and mono-shock and a spoked 20” wheelset shod in Kenda tires and fitted with skeletonized wheel covers. Other noteworthy elements present on both pedal-equipped bikes include a Tektro Dorado 4P braking setup, a full-color display, a custom swing-arm design, MTB-style handlebars secured in a Wake stem, and a minimalistic scrambler-style seat set on a subframe with integrated luggage attachment points. Weighing just 80lbs, the Arc Nemesis is kicked along by a 750-watt in-hub motor that’s linked to a 48V battery — with a six-hour recharge time — that together afford a range of up to 40 miles and a top speed of 25mph. Tipping the scales at 95lbs, the more high-end Arc Hero packs a 2,000-watt hub motor that draws from a 60V Samsung battery pack — a powertrain that’s good for a 40-mph top speed and a 45-mile range. Plus, as Class 2 e-bikes, neither model requires a license nor registration to operate — though a license is required for using the Arc Hero (in most regions) if its 40-mph top speed is unlocked.
Scheduled to ship out in Q2 of 2022, the EROYbikes Arc Nemesis and Arc Hero are both available for preorder now with pricing set at $3,500 and $4,750, respectively. What’s more, alongside the regular production bikes, EROY also offers two-wheelers through its Bespoke Operations division, which allows for a wide range of customization and personalization options straight from the factory.
