Commissioned by Gareth Maxwell Roberts — an avid lifelong motorcyclist, an original founder of The Bike Shed, a London-based filmmaker, and the force behind the custom moto doc Oil In the Blood — the MH900e Superlite is unequivocally one of the most special and elite one-off Ducati builds of all time. Half a decade after its completion, and this spare-no-expense Ducati project is now seeking a new home.
Starting with a low-mile Ducati 900SS donor, the Superlite project was meticulously brought to life over the course of three years. Built by Redmax, the build began with Roberts sourcing a titanium frame from Kansas-based outfit Stradafab, which crafted an MH900e chassis to factory spec before pairing it with a Panigale superbike fork and an Ohlins mono-shock. The titanium frame has also received a modified single-sided swing-arm from a Ducati Monster S2R that’s been mated to the framework via a custom TPO titanium swingarm pivot. What’s more, the titanium chassis has also been draped in MH900e full carbon fiber bodywork — courtesy of Ducati Performance — before being adorned in a one-off livery from Paint Monkey.
StradaFab was also called on to provide a slew of other one-off titanium parts including its sprocket cover, cambelt tensioners, gear linkage, rocker covers, and a full titanium exhaust system culminating in a pair of under-seat cans. The build also rides on one-off wheels from Kineo that feature ultra-beefy spokes and come shod in Pirelli Phantom tires. Other highlights on the build’s laundry list of top-of-the-line parts include HPS carbon fiber clip-ons, Gilles Tooling rear-sets, custom carbon fiber fenders fore and aft, a bespoke Performance Parts triple tree, a Ducabike open carbon clutch cover, Brembo M4 monobloc brakes and race levers, a custom Superlite-branded speedometer, Rizoma mirrors, and bar-end LED indicators, a digital keyless ignition, switch gear, and an m unit from Motogadget. As the project’s name suggests, quite a bit of weight has been shed over the course of the build, with the Superlite now weighing in at 337lbs (nearly) dry.
Located in London, Gareth Maxwell Roberts’ Ducati 900SS-based MH900e Superlite custom is currently for sale on The Bike Shed’s classified pages with an asking price of £32,500 (~ $38,750) — a mere fraction of the total cost it took to bring this wildly ambitious build to life.
