DeLorean Shows Off Baja-Style Off-Roader & Longtail GT Concept Vehicles

Back in June, revived American automotive firm, DeLorean pulled the cover off of its flagship vehicle, the Alpha5. And after showing off its modernized and fully-electric take on the mighty DMC-12, the company is now offering a glimpse into its future design language with an impressive series of concept cars.

Christened the 2040 Omega, the first of these two concept cars is DeLorean’s interpretation of what Baja and Dakar racers will look like in nearly 20 years’ time. This lifted next-gen off-roader sports a sleek rounded body shell that’s accented via even sleeker LED head and taillights, a futuristic set of off-road carbon fiber wheels and tires, and a race-grade suspension setup. Outside of utilizing a fully-electric powertrain, DeLorean hasn’t revealed any power or performance figures for the 2040 Omega.

The second of the two concepts has been dubbed the 2024 Alpha5 Plasmatail. Based on the firm’s flagship Alpha5 production model, the Plasmatail concept sees the coupe treated to a shooting brake-style conversion with a hint of long-tail Le Mans racer influence. DeLorean hasn’t revealed any performance specs for the 2024 Concept, though based on the Alpha5’s 300-mile range and sub-three-second 0-60mph time, we’re confident the futuristic one-off car packs a similar punch.

While DeLorean has no plans of putting either concept into production at this time, these one-of-one vehicles nonetheless give us a taste of the company’s future offerings — while also demonstrating its commitment to innovative, outside-the-box thinking and design.
