The 150 Series Land Cruiser Prado ended production in 2023, but Toyota isn’t ready to let it fade into history. Through its Corde by customization division — a brand launched specifically to breathe new life into used vehicles — the Japanese automaker has partnered with The North Face and biotech firm Spiber to create the Newscape package. It’s a factory-backed overhaul that gives the beloved J150 Prado a second act, complete with outdoor-inspired styling and some forward-thinking material innovation.

Built on Legacy
The 150 Series Prado ran from 15 years and became a global workhorse, selling over 3 million units across 190 countries. Known stateside as the Lexus GX until recently, this ladder-frame SUV earned its reputation hauling families and gear across continents with Toyota’s trademark durability.
Corde by saw an opportunity here. And rather than scrapping perfectly capable trucks, they decided to upgrade them. The Newscape concept debuted at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show and fans loved it enought that now it’s being put into production for 2026.

Two Trails, Same Destination
The Newscape comes in two distinct colorways. Graphite Gray channels The North Face’s heritage outerwear with matte black bumpers, bolt-on fender flares, and Mango Orange accents on the fog lights and rear tow hook. This is a direct nod to the brand’s iconic 1992 Mountain Light Jacket. Meanwhile, the Meld Grey variant takes a subtler approach with body-colored bumpers and Saffron Yellow details inspired by TNF’s Geodome 4 tent.
Both versions ride on matte black 17-inch alloys wrapped in 265/65R17 all-terrain rubber, plus a roof rack, rear ladder, mud flaps, and a fuel cap stamped with The North Face logo.

Inside, the seats feature upholstery made from Brewed Protein fiber, a fermentation-based textile developed by Spiber that uses plant-derived sugars instead of petroleum. It’s the first automotive application of this material, which shares qualities with wool and silk but without the environmental impact of synthetic fabrics. The North Face branding appears on the seat backs and throughout the cabin, while Toyota floor mats complete the interior.
