With an octet of boosted vehicles for this year’s SEMA lineup, it’s safe to say that Chevrolet is bringing out the big guns. And none look to be bigger or packing more firepower than the concept the iconic American manufacturer has dubbed the Chevy Beast.
The Beast’s roots stem from the Silverado, though it’s been modified to otherworldly levels from both cosmetic and performance standpoints. The Beast is engineered for high-performance desert running and is powered by a Chevy Performance LT4 supercharged 6.2L V8 crate engine making 650 horsepower. The 4×4’s monstrous powerplant is accompanied by a 5-link rear suspension and a 10-speed automatic transmission that transfers torque down to a two-speed transfer case as it makes way to a quartet of behemoth-like 37″ off-road tires. Surely, while its power is something to behold, the Chevy Beast’s exterior design manages to remain similarly impressive. Featuring tubular doors and a clamshell-type front end, this lightweight concept is adorned with off-road lighting from Baja Designs, two bed-mounted spare tires, a custom grille, and an open-air design to help extract dust.
