New York City is the breeding ground for a great deal of American culture (among other things), and its legendary status attracts a wide variety of people from all walks of life. Some of these people make such a splash in the Big Apple that directors feel the need to make a movie about them. Martin Scorcese did just that in 2013 with The Wolf of Wall Street, a film that portrays Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort and his (mostly illegal) rise through Wall Street and eventual downfall. One of the most famous set pieces from the movie was the white-on-white ‘89 Lamborghini Countach (which unfortunately had to be destroyed for the last act), but its stunt double is alive and well, and heading to RM Sotheby’s auction in December.

At the end of the film, the climax is a culmination of bad decisions and quaaludes which the poor Countach finds itself in the middle of. You can see the model that’s being auctioned during the scene where DiCaprio is (under a lot of influence) desperately trying to get in and drive. He eventually gets the car started, but it doesn’t take long before the “prop” vehicle is wrecked (which, to the dismay of many gearheads, was all too real).

This 1989 25th Anniversary Edition Countach comes in a very rare white-on-white colorway, and similar models (without any movie magic to back them up) are already going for high prices. There was one that went for $670,000 just last month, so that should give you a bit of an idea of what to expect as far as price is concerned.
