Since being founded by Jonathan Ward in 2006, ICON 4×4 has blossomed into one of the world’s premier builders of restomodded classic trucks and SUVs. The Southern California shop’s meticulous attention to detail and the overall caliber of its one-off builds have unsurprisingly resulted in a huge demand for its customs, which in turn has lead to a lengthy waiting list of at least a year — if not several, depending on the vehicle being commissioned. One lucky individual, however, is now being given the chance to jump to the front of the line and acquire an ICON-built FJ, as a recent example has just come up for sale on Bring a Trailer.

Representing ICON’s 116th FJ build, the project was completed in 2017 at a cost of over $187,000. Powering the restomod is a 5.7-liter Vortec V8 that now features an upgraded aluminum radiator, an integrated 110-volt trickle charger, and an Aisin AX15 five-speed manual transmission paired with a twin-stick transfer case. Riding on a custom set of ICON’s vintage-inspired 18” forged aluminum wheels, the build has seen its performance heavily modernized through the addition of an ICON sport suspension package with FOX Racing shocks, Brembo brakes, a ceramic-coated exhaust system, a Powertank auxiliary air system, and Dynatrac front and rear axles with ARB air lockers.

Finished in Rocky Mountain Grey powder-coating, the exterior of the FJ features replacement aluminum bodywork, a black soft top, all-new glass, Line-X undercoating, custom black powder-coated bumpers with parking sensors, a front bull bar, a WARN 9.5XI winch, ICON fender badges, a folding windshield, LED fog lights, a full-width LED light bar, a rear-mounted full-sized spare, AMP Research power-operated side steps, a split tailgate, and a rear-mounted jerry can. Trimmed in black leather with Chilewich cloth inserts, the fully custom interior of the build now sports heated front bucket seats, a removable rear bench seat, a VintageAir HVAC system, a backup camera, a Micro-Start personal power supply, drilled aluminum pedals, a three-spoke steering wheel, an LCD clock, auxiliary gauges, two locking storage bins, and a premium stereo system complete with a Pioneer 8100NEX head unit, Focal Access speakers, and ICON’s Amp and Bass package.
