After a two-year hiatus, the TRX returns for 2027 with a reworked supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 pushing 777hp. Ford’s Raptor R claimed the crown at 720 horses when the TRX went dormant after 2024, but Ram wasn’t about to let that stand. The result is a truck that doesn’t just reclaim its title as the most powerful production gas half-ton but does so while undercutting its rival by over ten grand.

SRT’s Return to Ramcharger Territory
The SRT badge hasn’t graced a Ram since the 2006 SRT-10, that wonderfully unhinged Viper-powered oddity. Nearly two decades later, its reappearance on the TRX signals the official relaunch of Stellantis’s Street and Racing Technology division under Tim Kuniskis.
Ram engineers borrowed hardware from both the “orange block” and “red block” Hellcat variants, refined the induction system to reduce restriction by 18 percent, and squeezed out a 10 percent power increase. The 2.4-liter twin-screw supercharger now feeds through a dual-path intake drawing air from both the grille and hood scoop, converging at a radial filter designed for maximum volume and even distribution.
Paired with the upgraded TorqueFlite 8HP95 eight-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive, the TRX hits 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 118 mph.

Looks That Kill
Aesthetically, the TRX doesn’t reinvent itself. The widebody stance remains — 6″ broader than a Rebel — complemented by composite fender flares and standard 18-inch Satin Black wheels. You also get a Flame Red flow-through grille badge, matching tow hooks front and rear, and a new tailgate logo featuring an actual T-Rex head. The optional Bloodshot Night Edition adds a hand-painted two-tone scheme with Diamond Black Crystal Pearl upper body and a Flame Red hood stripe, along with beadlock-capable wheels sporting Satin Titanium rings.
The interior continues Ram’s recent trajectory toward legitimate luxury, featuring Natura Plus leather with perforated suede inserts, real carbon fiber trim, a full suede headliner (borrowed from the Tungsten), and Ruby Red seatbelts. For the first time, there’s a leather-wrapped airbag cover with red stitching. Not to mention a 14.5-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital cluster, and 10-inch head-up display. Meanwhile, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon system ensures the cabin sounds as good as it looks.

Off-Road Hardware
Where the TRX differentiates itself from muscle-bound pavement pounders is suspension. The second-generation Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks (improved from the RHO) work with Ram’s Active Terrain Dynamics to manage 13″ of front travel and 14″ at the rear. That’s backed by forged aluminum control arms up front and a Dana 60 rear axle with electronic locking differential. Ground clearance sits at 11.8″, with approach, breakover, and departure angles all improved over the previous generation.
Six drive modes (Auto, Sport, Snow, Tow, Mud, Baja) fine-tune throttle response and damping, while Launch Control provides optimal acceleration on closed courses. And if you’re looking for something completely unexpected, the TRX includes Hands-free Active Drive Assist Level 2+ as standard, making it the only high-performance gas off-road truck with hands-free highway capability.
