Evoluto Declares Its Ferrari 355 Restomod Production-Ready With a Screaming Tunnel Run

Evoluto first pulled the wraps off the 355 restomod at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and for the better part of two years, it’s lived in that exciting but uncertain space between concept and reality. That changes now as the British firm has officially declared the 355 by Evoluto production ready, punctuating the announcement with footage of the car doing exactly what a mid-engined Italian V8 should do, screaming through the 1.7-mile Catesby Tunnel at full speed.

The Engine That Never Should’ve Been Turbocharged

Ferrari’s original 3.5-liter flat-plane V8 was already a masterpiece of engineering, redlining at 8,500 rpm with 380hp. Evoluto’s engineers have reworked over 200 components on the engine, adding bespoke camshafts, ported cylinder heads, coil-on-plug ignition, and a full stainless steel exhaust. The result is 414hp at 8,000 rpm and 273lb.ft of torque, which is up considerably from the original’s numbers. The rev limit stays at 8,500 rpm on the standard tune. For those who want more power, the optional 3.7-liter variant produces 473hp at a 9,000 rpm redline, with strengthened internals designed for sustained high-rev use. It pairs with an open-gate manual.

What the Catesby Tunnel Proved

To mark production readiness, Evoluto filmed the 355 screaming through Catesby Tunnel, a 1.7-mile former Victorian railway tunnel now used as an aero and acoustic testing facility. The footage speaks for itself, a naturally aspirated crescendo that makes the ’90s supercar feel modern. More practically, the tunnel validated the car’s aerodynamics and cooling systems ahead of final sign-off. The prototype has logged over 5,000 miles of on-track testing and 10,000 miles of engine bench testing, with a final 20,000-mile durability sign-off due in April.

Nothing Left Stock

The track is 77mm wider up front and 66mm wider at the rear, supported by fully re-engineered suspension arms, uprights, and new wheel bearings that save over a kilogram per corner. Hardpoints were repositioned to optimize geometry for modern tires, targeting scrub radius, caster angle, and camber control simultaneously. The steering rack has been quickened from 3.25 turns lock-to-lock to 2.0, paired with an electro-hydraulic assist calibrated to preserve genuine road feel. Brembo brakes with optional carbon-ceramic rotors round it out. Dry weight checks in at 2,756lbs, which is roughly 220lbs lighter than the donor car.

Analog by Design

Wayne Burgess and the CALLUM team redesigned the cabin with lightweight carbon construction, machined metal details, and physical dials throughout. Speaker covers are milled from single pieces of metal. A modern electric HVAC system is hidden behind rotary controls, and roughly 90% of the wiring harness is completely new, built around a dedicated MoTec powertrain ECU. Extensive personalization is available across materials, colors, and finishes.

First customer deliveries are scheduled for Q4 2026, with the initial production car entering the build facility this March. Pricing starts at £595,000 (~$800,000), though final costs vary based on specification and donor car condition. Unfortunately, all 55 commissions are accounted for.
