BMW’s M division has been on an absolute tear with the M2 lately. First came the power bump to 473 horsepower for 2025, then the hardcore M2 CS with 523 horses, and now they’re cooking up something that might be even more interesting – a street-legal Track Package that promises to turn the already feisty M2 into a proper circuit weapon.
The timing makes perfect sense. The M2 CS just set a blistering 7:25 Nürburgring lap time, making it the fastest car in its class around the Green Hell. But BMW isn’t satisfied with just being fastest, because why would they be? They want to give regular M2 owners a taste of that track-focused madness without forcing them into the limited-production CS.

More Than Just a Big Wing
The spy shots from the Nürburgring reveal a car that’s been properly dialed for track duty. That swan-neck mounted rear wing was purpose-built as a legitimate aerodynamic device that wouldn’t look out of place on a GT3-spec Porsche. It’s actually more aerodynamically efficient than conventional wing mounts, providing better airflow management for genuine downforce gains.
Up front, there’s a new splitter that sits noticeably lower than the standard M2’s setup, suggesting adjustable M Performance suspension has been fitted to drop the ride height and sharpen the handling. The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires – the same rubber found on the 911 GT3 RS and Mustang Dark Horse – confirm this isn’t just a cosmetic exercise.

Carbon Everything
The spy photos reveal carbon fiber front seats and what appears to be revised rear seating, though BMW is stopping short of a full rear-seat delete. This suggests they’re targeting serious track enthusiasts who still want daily usability rather than going full racecar like a potential M2 CSL might.
The brake calipers appear to be painted in that distinctive M2 CS red, clamping down on drilled rotors that look properly sized for repeated track abuse. Whether BMW has spec’d M Compound or full carbon-ceramic brakes remains to be seen, but either option would be a significant upgrade over the standard setup.
Performance Parts Philosophy
What’s interesting about this Track Package is that it’s being developed by BMW M Performance Parts rather than the main M division. This means the components could potentially be sold individually rather than as a complete package only. For owners who want just the wing or just the suspension upgrades, this approach offers some flexibility here.
The package should be compatible with both the six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmissions. While the manual is more engaging (and subjectively the better option here), the automatic is actually quicker around a track and can handle more torque from the S58 engine. BMW conservatively rates the manual at 406 lb-ft versus the engine’s actual capability, likely leaving room for future upgrades.

Staying Street Legal
The genius of this approach is that while it’s a track car at its heart, it’s still completely street legal (although we probably wouldn’t recommend it as a daily driver). You will, however, be be able to drive this thing to the circuit, thrash it for a session, then drive home for dinner. And that’s something we can fully get behind.
The camouflaged prototype testing at the Nürburgring shows BMW is serious about validating the package where it matters most. And, if they’re able to shave just a few more seconds off that already impressive 7:25 lap time, it’d be really hard to argue the M2’s as perhaps the ultimate compact performance car.
