Prodrive’s Racing Simulator Is What Happens When Motorsport Engineers Design Furniture

Most racing simulators look like they belong in a teenager’s bedroom, but Prodrive is certainly not most racing simulators. Originally conceived by ex-F1 team principal David Richards and designed by automotive legend Ian Callum, this is a piece of sculptural furniture that happens to deliver the most authentic racing experience money can buy.

And while we’ve covered Prodrive’s beautiful racing simulators in the past, the 2025 update takes an already stunning design and elevates it with partnerships from some of Britain’s most prestigious artisans.

British Craftsmanship Meets Motorsport Engineering

The centerpiece is still that floating carbon fiber monocoque, which is the same material and construction techniques Prodrive uses in their actual race cars. But now it’s surrounded by a “hoop” made from 16 layers of steam-formed beech wood, finished by superyacht builder Pendennis in a lacquered gloss black that rivals the finest grand pianos. The visual effect is striking: the carbon cockpit appears to hover weightlessly within its wooden frame.

Connolly, who’ve been crafting leather for over 140 years, now handles the interior customization. You can specify colors, stitching, and even add family crests or logos to personalize your floating monocoque. Birmingham’s Vaughtons – the people who make Aston Martin’s wing badges – create bespoke plaques for each commission.

Audio That Matches the Aesthetics

Bang & Olufsen has taken over audio duties, and their involvement makes perfect sense. Both companies understand that high-end performance equipment should look as good as it functions. Standard Beoplay HX headphones can be upgraded to the flagship H100 model, while an optional Beosound A9 external speaker with personalized fabric cover provides the ultimate shared experience for spectators.

The 49-inch curved 5K display integrates seamlessly with Ian Callum’s flowing lines, while the Precision Sim Engineering LM Pro steering wheel and electrically adjustable pedals deliver the kind of tactile feedback that Prodrive’s four decades of motorsport experience can provide.

Sculpture That Actually Works

As with previous iterations, Prodrive does a stellar job blending form and function without compromising either. The carbon monocoque provides authentic race car ergonomics and seating position, while the wooden frame complements any living space perfectly. The single power cable setup means you can actually integrate this into your living space without running extension cords or dedicating a separate room.

The pedal box delivers genuine race car feel, something that matters whether you’re sharpening skills for an actual race weekend or just trying to beat your personal best at Monaco. Prodrive’s motorsport pedigree – from Formula 1 to Le Mans – translates into simulation software that responds like the real thing rather than a video game approximation.
