Following in the footsteps of the brand’s iconic SLS, the Mercedes-AMG GT is a high-performance flagship two-door model range that first hit the market in 2015. Over its roughly decade in production, the AMG GT has steadily evolved into an ever-more-capable vehicle, though the latest iteration of the GT — the AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE— blurs the line between sportscar and supercar as the fastest and most powerful “AMGT” to date.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE gains an enormous host of significant updates and upgrades for its latest model year that collectively yield a markedly more potent vehicle. Under the hood, the thing packs a handcrafted twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter AMG V8 with direct injection that makes 603hp and 627ft-lbs of torque. Alongside an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission, this twin-turbo V8 has been paired with an F1-derived permanently-excited synchronous electric motor with an electrically-shifted two-speed transmission and a limited-slip rear differential. Drawing from a 6.1-kWh battery, this 150-kW (201-hp) motor ultimately allows the GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE to put down a collective 805hp and up to 1,047ft-lbs of torque — all of which is sent to the ground via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system. In addition to a top speed that’s been electronically limited to a still very respectable 199mph, this hybrid drive system affords the GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE a lightning-fast 0-60mph time of just 2.7 seconds, making it the quickest-accelerating AMG Series production model ever.

It’s not just the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE’s powertrain and power output that’s noteworthy, as the car also boasts a laundry list of impressive hardware and systems — a great many of which now come as standard. This includes AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilization and active rear axle steering, plus eight AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive programs and an AMG carbon ceramic high-performance composite braking system with bronze-finished six-piston fixed calipers. It doesn’t end there as the vehicle also sports a fully-exposed carbon fiber aerodynamics kit with active aero elements. The car also rides on aerodynamically-optimized 20” ten-spoke AMG alloy wheels, which can be upgraded to 21” rims. Mercedes-AMG’s new GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is also being added as an available model in the marque’s elite MANUFAKTUR Signature program.

The 2025 AMG GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE is slated to roll into dealerships before the end of 2024. And though pricing has yet to be revealed, based on existing pricing and the extreme performance capabilities of this new 2025 model year offering, we anticipate an MSRP of around $200,000 or more.
